Bradbourne’s “Cellular” works have a repeat patterning inspired by the cellular construction of plants and leaves.
This exploration emerged during a time when Stephen had limited access to a full glass blowing studio. His earlier, more explicitly leafy forms were assembled pieces of murrine glass, made in a small home-studio workshop, then taken to the hot shop of a friend to be fired and worked on.
Today, with their elaborate 3 furnaces hot shop Stephen is able to develop his cellular patterned structures into hand-blown vessel forms.
